Rebeca is a first-generation college graduate herself and has spent her career working in college access and success. She first started on this path when she was still a student at Occidental College; she spent multiple summers working with high school juniors and decided to change her career path to college counseling. Rebeca worked as a college counselor for seven years at BTSV and a charter high school in San Francisco. She piloted BTSV’s college success program in 2020 and is now a College Advising Coach, supporting the training and professional development of the 11th and 12th grade team.

In addition to a B.S. in Urban & Environmental Policy from Oxy, Rebeca received a certificate in College Admissions and Career Planning from UC Berkeley.

“One of my favorite BTSV memories is from our student olympics during the annual 11th grade trip to visit colleges in SoCal. We were playing a game where one person was blindfolded and sent into the middle of the field to collect snacks for their crew, and my crew was very passionate and determined to win the Hot Cheetos. There was lots of screaming and laughing and in the end we did not get the Hot Cheetos, but we made great team memories. This is BTSV culture in a nutshell.”
