Marisol is BTSV’s Development Events Manager, where she is responsible for the strategic planning and execution of fundraising and volunteer-driven events, including the annual Are You Smarter Than a Breakthrough Student? benefit and Career Exploration Day during BTSV’s hallmark summer program.
Marisol cultivates relationships with students, volunteers and donors, while also managing all aspects of event operations, ensuring a positive experience for all participants and maximizing fundraising potential. She loves the creative process of designing unique and engaging events, solving logistical puzzles, and finding innovative ways for BTSV to achieve its fundraising goals.
Prior to BTSV, Marisol worked at Rebekah Children’s Services, an agency in her hometown of Gilroy focused on support for youth in foster care and facing mental health challenges. Her experience there deepened her understanding of the systemic barriers these populations encounter, fueling her commitment to advocacy and empowerment efforts. In addition to planning fundraising events, she also managed the Second Harvest Food Bank partnership, oversaw agency marketing, and provided community relations training.
Marisol finds balance through running to her favorite songs, hiking, reading, listening to true crime podcasts, and creating a cozy home where she can cherish her husband’s cooking alongside her stepson.
“A highlight of my time at BTSV was experiencing the dynamic learning environment and the students' enthusiastic engagement during my first summer here.”
