Javier Ortega
family and Community Engagement Manager
Born and raised in San José, Javier attended Santa Clara University where he received a B.S. in Political Science and Ethnic Studies. Javier is proud to be first-generation with his family being immigrants from México. He is the first in his family to graduate from college. After graduation, Javier worked at Sacred Heart Community Service as an Education Policy Organizer working with San José Unified School District families. Before joining Breakthrough, Javier worked as a Policy Analyst for Santa Clara County Supervisor Otto Lee. During his time at the County & D3 Office, he covered policy areas in public safety, transportation, and social justice, among others. He is excited to be working with first-gen families again!
He enjoys working out, running, and watching sports in his free time. He is a huge Bay Area sports fan.
