STEM Challenge #1

  • Silver Creek High School 3434 Silver Creek Road San Jose, CA, 95121 United States (map)

Do you want to:

  • Inspire low-income kids in our community to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and math?
  • Provide young girls and boys with the pathways to success in these fields?
  • Network with other professionals in Silicon Valley?

Then join us for an interactive and fun morning with Breakthrough students! Via STEM based hands-on activities and round-table discussions, professionals have the opportunity to share their passion with students in our community.

We invite you to make a powerful impact as a guest speaker at the Breakthrough Silicon Valley’s STEM Challenge and Chat!

To volunteer, REGISTER HERE.

Did you know: In Silicon Valley, Latinos make up 25% of the population, but only 3% of the high-tech workforce (Baron, 2012). Latina women number even fewer in high-tech fields. The underrepresentation of women, Latinos and other minority groups in STEM represents a waste of talent. As a leader in technology and innovation, Silicon Valley’s competitive edge is dependent on a highly educated workforce, but the unfortunate reality is that we lack a robust pipeline of homegrown candidates. Breakthrough Silicon Valley addresses this critical need. We expand the pool of highly skilled professionals and develop leaders who reflect the changing demographics of our region.
