Sophomore Resume & Mock Interviews Workshop
*Volunteer Opportunity - We are looking for professional volunteers for this event*.
At the Resume Review & Mock Interview workshop, volunteers will review draft resumes and provide valuable feedback, help students understand what employers are looking for, and provide feedback they can incorporate to help them stand out amongst other applicants. Volunteers will also help students practice their interview techniques, identify suggestions to convey their strengths, grow confidence when speaking about themselves, and overcome interview jitters.

Career Exploration Day connects our students’ dreams with a very real experience. By seeing what it looks like to work in Silicon Valley, they are taking the first step in creating a personal vision for their success. While their dreams may change, it is important that every student meets individuals who are successful in their chosen profession. Let us know if you or a colleague would like to host a small group of middle school students for a morning at your place of work. Secure your spot as early as February!

Senior Celebration 2023
We celebrate the Class of 2023 as they end their time in high school and prepare to take on their college careers at institutions near and far. (SJSU, UC Berkeley, Bucknell University, Howard University, and Brown University, to name a few!).
It is a bittersweet moment here at Breakthrough, though. We will miss the students, but we are proud to see them fulfill their goals. Thankfully, we can stay in touch and continue supporting Breakthrough graduates through our College Pathways Initiative program. We are excited to follow the class of 2023 and help them navigate their first year at their dream schools!

At the Resume Review & Mock Interview workshop, volunteers will review draft resumes and provide valuable feedback, help students understand what employers are looking for, and provide feedback they can incorporate to help them stand out amongst other applicants. Volunteer Opportunity - We are looking for 12 professional volunteers for this event
At the Professionalism Workshop, volunteers will engage in dialogue with students as they speak about their personal experiences as BIPOC individuals navigating the professional workspace in one-on-one and small group spaces. Students will be drafting resumes with Breakthrough staff at this workshop to use during the Resume Review and Mock Interview workshop. RSVP here.

Breakthroughs in Education Panel
After two years of upheaval in public education students, teachers, families and K-12 schools are in crisis. Join Breakthrough Silicon Valley and the San Jose State University Connie L. Lurie College of Education for an exploratory discussion on the importance of centering relationships for student success, the power of public education to transform lives, and the fragility of that system as we emerge from the pandemic.
The Breakthroughs in Education panel will be hosted virtually on Zoom, on May 10 from 6pm-7pm, with a live Q&A.
